The Final Step
The Final Step – 1c Murphy street South Yarra
This tiny little café has a big heart and is one of the best cafes in Melbourne. With a primary focus on coffee, the Final Step does offer limited food by way of bagels and sweets made fresh from Caaaake! Which is owned and run by Angela who happens to be the sister of Ben who happens to be the owner of the Final step.
The New Zealand duo have created perfection in Melbourne where the competition for good, honest coffee is tough but with their dedication and Ben’s focus on coffee alone, this espresso bar cum café knows what it is talking about. For lovers of real coffee, the Final Step is an orgasm in the making and caters primarily for the real coffee snobs of Melbourne, remarkably without the pretention. The highlight of the menu is by far the meal deal, which is an espresso, and a flat white made from the same extraction and served together for $5. On the flip side, if you appreciate good coffee but can’t quite understand what all the fuss is about, an open door policy allows patrons to BYO lunch whilst sipping away at their latte.
With street side seating and a limited number of seats inside, takeaway traffic is high but if you manage to get a seat, take a break from the fast paced life of Chapel Street, bring your book and your lunch and relax at The Final Step.
