Don’t go hungry November in Melbourne at the Age Good Food Guide, Good Food month
The Age Good Food month is heaven for foodies as Melbourne prepares for a city wide, month long celebration of cuisine, drinks, culture and dining experiences. Throughout November, pop-up installations, restaurants and bars parade their finest offerings with discounted and specialist events for the hungry soul. The events mark the release of the Age Good Food guide series for 2014 with a showcase of their top rated foodie selections for the year ahead.
It is good to get in quick, as special and one-night only events are selling out fast, but many of the events and offers are running each night throughout the month. Here are just a few of the events that are shaping up to be the pick of the crop for 2014 and some special events you can’t afford to miss.
Night Noodle Markets – Alexandra Gardens (behind the boat sheds at Princess Bridge)
From November 18 Alexandra Gardens turns into a South-East Asian night market affair as stalls line the park-land serving Melbourne’s very best noodle dishes. With appearances from Longrain, Chin Chin, Wonderbao and Thanh Phong and washed down with pourings in four bar locations thanks to the Age Good Food Guide sponsors Rekorderling cider, Tanqueray gin and Yalumba wines, the noodle markets are a very tasty night out.
Bowery to Williamsburg Breakfast club
The NYC-style café is serving a $20 breakfast special, NY style with lox, pickles, poached eggs and the creamiest of cream cheese between 7.30am and 11am during the week. The coffee is pretty good too.
“Eat, Stay, Love” at South Melbourne Market each weekend from 11am – 2pm
The South Melbourne market is a happening place for fresh produce and foot traffic every weekend, but during November, the market space celebrates its success with $15 lunch specials over the weekend. Come down for a bite from Koy, Paco y Lola, Simple Spanish and Claypots Evening Star and soak up the delicious smells and surrounding area.
The dark, mystic, speakeasy style of Gin Palace is the best place to appreciate the bitterness of gin and what better way than to take advantage of Tanqueray gin’s sponsorship of Good Food Month. Each night from 4pm Gin Palace is serving up the Roadhouse a ginger beer, orange bitters gin cocktail for $20 and served with their delicious chicken sandwiches.
