After the success of White Night 2013, it is back for another 12 hours of cultural overkill, social experimentation and weird and wonderful art.

Kicking off at 7pm on Saturday 22 February, White Night – headlined by homage to Tim Winton – will take over the city of Melbourne from dusk till dawn in celebration of just how cool we can be. Free acts, installations and ticketed events include A Vogue Idea, a fashion meets society opening event attempting to break down the us and them barrier in the fashion industry, Pom Pom Project a Esty and CAE arts and crafts collaboration getting all ages involved in the creative process, an all night long dedication to film Noir at ACMI and of course the synonymous “wonderland” electronic canvas of light installation imagery scattered across the city’s architecture are just some of the scheduled events.

Testing the garbage collectors and their ability to keep up; food is naturally a highlight and countless outposts are scattered over all eleven designated precincts around town. Options include supportive restaurants and bars Chin Chin and Ponyfish Island as well as hawker style desert and drink carts plus the ever-popular food vans including White Guy cooks Thai, Taco Truck and Smoking Barry to feed hungry hipsters throughout the night.

The weather forecast is not as promising as the balmy 35 degrees we had last year, with an expected top of just 23 and showers but, as usual, Melbourne is sure to put on yet another great and spectacular show.
